Green Livin’

I just found a great, affordable resource for owning a green home. I love the design and functionality of these house. This is a great concept.

We are doing well so far this year being a bit greener in our family.  I still have dreams of being off the grid on a beautiful farm, but that is still a ways off.  As of now, we have stopped using all the big box stores. No more Target, Wal-Mart or big chain supermarkets.  We have only one car and have been sharing it successfully for the past 7 months. I have also been successful in getting us down to having one day a week of no car use at all.  We take the bus or walkif we need to go some place.

I have been pleased and surprised with the wonderful respone I have recieved from my neighbors and friends when  I have had to borrow a car.  Michael gets home from work at 1:30 in the afternoon, so I only have to worry about finding a car to use in the morning.  I have two neighbors that have been very accomodating. I have been able to go to farmer’s markets and to the library story hour almost every week, or pretty much whenever I want.

See, I believe, we have become so isolated from each other, we don’t even know anymore the extent to which we could all be helping each other.  All we have to do is ask.
